Start with the disposal route players actually tested

An August discussion describes unsuccessful attempts to sell the barrels to general buyers or place them directly in the trash. Replies point to the scavenging destination instead. This does not establish a universal sale ban, but it makes an ordinary customer a poor disposal plan.

Before accepting more waste, count how much shop and backpack space you can spare. Do not treat an unknown future buyer as guaranteed income.

Run a one-barrel check

The earlier Steam thread names a light or heavy backpack and the Dumping Grounds. Use this small trial to separate transport problems from a later return event.

1. Check that the destination is available in your night menu, then pack one barrel.
2. At the Dumping Grounds, move that barrel out of the backpack and leave it there before departing.
3. Inspect the shop the following morning and record whether the barrel returns. Repeat only after checking that result.

A returned barrel does not settle the whole question

One player reported that a five-barrel batch returned, but subsequent single-barrel trips did not. Another described Georgio returning the first barrel. Those observations support trying one at a time; they do not prove a fixed return probability or an exact rule for every save.

If repeated single-barrel attempts still fail, keep your version, scenario and nightly results together when reporting the issue.

Treat the container trick as an old workaround

Players also reported putting waste inside a disposable crate, then discarding the crate. The container is lost too, and a reply explicitly suspected a bug. We have not verified that interaction in the release build.

Compare the container's replacement cost with the space you would recover. Never use a container holding equipment you intend to keep.
