Quick answer
Arresting the Butcher starts a later retaliation sequence. If the cleaver and threat have arrived, watch for Sawyer's offer and use the Butcher Hunting Service in End of Day.

Identify the visitor before reporting
The Butcher can arrive under the generic Lower Level Citizen label. Compare his face with the wanted portrait instead of assuming that every visitor with that label is him. The community reference records a base bounty of 450, with modifiers potentially changing the actual payout.
Keep this as a story decision: the immediate payment does not describe everything that follows.
Separate the arrest from the later threat
The documented sequence is arrest, later shop vandalism, then a cleaver and threatening note. The note is a story signal, not an order requiring you to deliver a cleaver.
Write down which of those events you have actually seen. A missing hunting option before the threat arrives is a different problem from an option missing after Sawyer has offered help.
Activate the service after the offer
The newer community reference places activation in the nightly End of Day interface. Hearing Sawyer's offer is not itself the purchase.
- While the pursuit remains active, wait for Sawyer's offer after the cleaver event.
- After closing, select the sleeping bag at the lower right to open End of Day.
- Choose Butcher Hunting Service and check the displayed charge; the documented base cost is 500.
- After the night resolves, read the log for completion rather than judging solely by whether the option disappeared.
Check the current stage when something is blocked
During pursuit, the referenced departure check looks for a firearm or Stun Gun in the backpack you take out; equipment left in the shop does not meet that check. Read the departure warning and inspect the selected bag.
For a missing service, record whether the threat and offer occurred, whether you closed the shop, and your available cash. This gives a useful issue report without guessing a universal calendar day.
Questions & answers
Did the first alarm click report him?
His initial alarm interaction may present a warning first. Check what the interaction actually did before assuming an arrest has happened.
Does finishing the hunt prevent all vandalism?
No. This resolves the Butcher pursuit; ordinary faction-related vandalism is a separate system. The reference does not establish an additional item reward.
